About
Sonya Hardwick started the studio to do one thing: draw a house's mechanical systems as carefully as the architect draws its walls, then build them with the same people who drew them.
There are twelve of us: designers, pipefitters and technicians, and the office. Each project has a design lead, a field superintendent and a controls lead from start to finish, so the person who answers your question was in the room when the decision was made.
We work in the Roaring Fork Valley and take only as many projects as we can draw and supervise properly. That is why we start with the drawings, and why we ask to start early.
The people
Founder and principal
Leads design and every architect meeting. Reads each drawing set before it goes out.
Design lead
Draws the mechanical sets, marks up your architect's plans and joins coordination meetings.
Field superintendent
Runs the radiant and snowmelt crews on site, and signs off each pressure test.
Controls and commissioning
Sets up the zoning, takes sound readings and runs start-up.
What we hold
The registration number is in the footer of every page. Ask for the insurance certificate before work starts.
Mechanical contractor
CO Registration 000000 · Pitkin County and City of Aspen building departments
Colorado licenses mechanical work through the city or county, not the state. This is what lets us pull permits here.
General liability and workers' compensation insurance
A certificate goes to you or your architect on request, before work starts.
EPA Section 608
Our technicians hold EPA Section 608 certification.
We reply on the next business day.
